First Valentine for 2012

Hi Stampers,

I sure do not like how my Blogger is working these days, things seem so messed up some how, maybe its me. LOL

I need to come up with two Valentine/Something Else cards for my ladies on Wednesday, one wants Valentines and one wants the same card as the others but not Valentines. Hummmm

So this is what I have come up with so far. I don't think it screams Valentines but it could be or could just be for someones special day.

Friends Never Fade

Hi Stampers:

My Blogger has been not working properly so hence the delay in my posts.

My card today uses one of the stamps from Friends Never Fade. I used SU markers to color the stamp. The colors I used were Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke. I wanted to try to come as close as I could to the DSP in Paisley Petals.

I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the design on the first layer. I embossed the flower image using one of the Designer Frames. Then I decided I liked this so much I did another one using a different layout.

I had gotten a little smudge on the inside so this is what I came up with to fix it. LOL

When I stamped the image part of it was missing where the DSP and the card base met, but I was able to color it in with the markers. Thanks goodness!

Hi Everyone:

Finally got all my stuff put away from my weekend away. I took too much next time I will have to try to plan better. How do you guys figure out what to take?

My card today is a pretty simple card. It only uses two inks and one was just for sponging purposes.

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the branches and made the curly sprigs by wrapping a thin piece of card stock around a small screw driver. I added some small pearls on the branches but you may not be able to see them.

I can see myself using this stamp set alot I love how it can be used in different directions, one color or you could color it with markers to get a complete different look.

Hi Everyone:

I had a great time at my scrapbook retreat. I always do cards but most do scrapbooking or some of both. I always enjoy this time as there are no phones ringing and when we look outside we look out at natures beauty and sometimes a few deer.

I used all new materials from the new Occasions Mini except for the first layer which was Riding Hood Red. I love the new Saleabration Designer Series Paper. It is very vintagey if that is a word. LOL I love the new Dollie die although you do have to have some patience poking out all the little pieces I used a pencil and rolled it around and many feel out very easily.

I have not been posting lately due to being sick most of December and reflecting on 2011.

I spent Christmas with my son in Medicine Hat it was a great time, great weather. I truly am so very proud of what he has accomplish in the last few years. I used to worry so much about him but he has grown into a fine adult man. While I was there I told him that I was going to turn things around back home this year. I called it something that I will not repeat on here but basically it means that I am going to stop being what everyone thinks I should be and start being who I really am and who God created me to be.

All of my life I have being trying to live up to everyones expectations, not wanting to speak up because I may hurt someones feelings or offend them. It was ok for them to offend and hurt me but I had myself on such a high expectation level that I often felt depressed etc. To the point I would not leave my home cause I knew that I was so depressed and pissed off at the whole world.

I have since come to the conclusion that I don't have to be what others think I should be ( I know I am a good person etc.) I was so scared to say anything that I would say nothing ... no wonder some thought I was abrupt. I was never rude, just got to the point and said no more, nicely.

After reading Gina K.'s blog today I thought I would also share how I have been feeling although the folks that should read this won't at least I will be confessing to how I have been feeling. I don't usually make resolutions for the new year and I am not about to now, but I am going to stop letting my feelings/emotions rule me I am taking control and ruling them from here on in. No more letting things upset me to the point my whole day, month, year is ruined.

This is Gina's mantra for 2012 and I am jumping on board with her.

My mantra for 2012 is:

"How others treat me is their path. How I respond is mine."

I am going to a scrapbook retreat this weekend and I will start posting cards again next week. Thank you for letting me share the above I hope all of you have a great 2012.

We are all so busy doing Christmas shopping, cooking, etc. But how many of us really stop to think about what Christmas is really all about. It is about the birth of Jesus our Saviour and yet how many of us take the time to even say, "Happy Birthday Jesus" at Christmas. We really need to stop and make room for him in our lives for all of our blessings.

We all stand in lines to purchase our Christmas presents, but where is the line for Jesus? Without him we would not be here enjoying our family and friends at Christmas.

Hi all, I am just starting to recover from being quite ill this week. If things had not changed today I figured I would have to seek medical help but I am happy to say I feel better, not great but better.

I thought to take my mind off my sickness I would putter around my stamp room. I did not feel like stamping. Then I came across a image that I had already colored up with my markers and decided to finish it off.

I usually go through my stash of items I have previous cut, punched etc that did not get used to see if I can use any of them on a card. Today's card is made up of all those unused elements. Well I am tired now so I think I will go for a nap and feel better.

Recently I started sketching out my cards. I saw this on Sandi McIvors blog or maybe her newsletter. I thought that it was a great idea, as it would give me my sizes for my layers especially if you are using a layout over and over. Takes away the need to guess as to what you used. I also mark the stamp sets name and everything I used then hopefully when I blog I will have all the info right there for what I used. Sandi used the grid paper from Stampin Up but I decided to use a notebook so I could take it with me when I go to my annual crop in the new year.

I actually stamp the images right on my sketch to audition them in that layout. It is a bit time consuming but what else do I have to do. LOL

Anyway, enough jabbering here is my card.

I ran my Whisper White pad over top of the Embossing panel to give it a bit of a distressed look. Thanks for stopping by.

A Clean and Simple Card

I have never really made a true clean and simple card before.

In my endeavours to try to stamp more often I am allowing myself to do what ever I feel like on my cards. I am a Stampin Up demo, but my customer base is low and I think I am turning into a hobby demo. So I am just going to enjoy the journey as they say.

I said all of that because I used Copic Markers to color my stamped image. Everything else is Stampin Up. I tried to copy the colors used in the DSP Paisley Petals with the colors I have in the markers. I do not own hundreds like some. But I do enjoy coloring tight spots with them like the stamped image on this card. I tried to moddle the inside of the big leaves like the paper but it did not quite come out like I had hoped but it still looks pretty good in my opinion.

The only other thing I did was to add the DSP on the bottom and punch it with the Scallop Border punch and I added some stitching with my white Signo Pen after I got it to work another neglected item that was found. Oh and I rounded the top of the card, again, something I seldom do but looks good here.

Get Well

I was doing some rearranging in my stamp room on Friday and I really wanted to re-purpose anything I already owned in my new arrangements. I have been finding that if I can't see it, or at least be able to get at it I won't use it.

I have always had a place/organizer for my punches, pads etc. but there are so many other items that we have that I forget I have them or don't bother to use them because to get at them means moving something etc. Well, I think I managed to get a good start on being able to find what I want, when I want and I did not purchase anything new to accomplish this. That is the best part.

Anyway here is the card I created after I cleaned up. I found my background stamps and used the polka dots on the chocolate chip layer. See one found item used already. LOL

I stamped the greenery in Wild Wasabi the flowers in Melon Mambo and Crush Curry and cut them out applied to the greenery. I stamped the Get Well stamp from Perfectly Penned in Black.

Added a strip of Melon Mambo that had been punched with the scallop border punch to each side of the Whisper White and attached it to the Chocolate Chip piece. Added the ribbon and then adhered all of this to my card front.

Wish I Could Sail Away

I say that because this weekend we got a whole pile of snow. I drove into town this afternoon for some groceries and over the lake it looked so glumey and dark. I guess that is because of the moisture coming out of the lake before it freezes.

I love watching the boats in summer on the lake, it is so relaxing. Then one of those sea doos comes roaring by and spoils the tranquil moment. LOL

Anyway, my card today is a masculine birthday. Very easy to copy and please do. I decided to heat emboss the images as I could not get a real crisp image on the Crumb Cake like I wanted.

I used the white Sigma Pen to highlight the waves and the sail. Enjoy and thanks for taking a look.

I really liked the sketch for Mojo Monday yesterday and decided to see what some of the ladies had come up with.

I fell in love with Mary Fish's color combo. Decided to give it a try and fell on love with Island Indigo.

Because I Care Thank You

Hello,

I am incredibly thankful today. We finally have decided on what kind of gazebo we are going to build, and we even got our approval from the Condo Board. We still have to get the building permit stuff but the Condo board is the first hoop and we should be good to go.

My Stampin Up order just arrived so I have a few new goodies to play with. Finally, the weather is gorgeous so who would not be happy.

Oh and my card today is a Thank you hum, how about that!

Ok some details about this card, I layered my focal image on a piece of whisper white that was embossed with the Lattice Folder. I had this doilie that I had taken from a sandwich that I was served because I thought to myself I could use that someday, well it is someday today. I tucked the doilie under the peice of Night of Navy and placed this on the embossed piece.

I used my nestabilities die to cut my scallop circle and then cut the stamped image with a circle nestabilitiy. I colored the image with markers and stamped the Thank You at the bottom.

So there you have it. Have a great day.

Calypso Coral Meets French Foliage

Hello, my Blog Friends, hope everyone had a great weekend. We sure are enjoying our weather these days although there is still alot of concern for the fall winds that may threaten our lake shores. But for now we are good, dry and happy.

I had put a card very if not exactly like the one I showed on SCS and I was overwhelmed with the hits on it. So I thought I would try another out of my box combination. One thing I promised myself or made a goal to do was to use my stamp sets more and more often by trying things that are not what most of us would do so hence the color combo's.

I ran my first layer of Black through the Lattice Embossing folder only 3/4 's of the way. I then added my DSP which had added a piece of Calypso Coral that had been punched with the ScallopTrim Border Punch.

The stamped images where stamped in Calypso Coral, Alway Artichoke (rock and roll) and Basic Grey. I stamped the sentiment in Black and sponged basic grey on it while it was still in my nestabilites die. Then I added this whole piece to my Whisper White card base.

Simply Soft Doily

I spent most of yesterday playing with this stamp set.

I embossed the Hello Doily background stamp with white embossing powder then sponged Soft Suede over it. Then I randomly stamped the doilies from Delicate Doilies with Soft Suede and sponged the edges.

I add some Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon On the side.

For the stamped image I colored it as i did in the previous post and then layered it on a Early Expresso circle. I placed this in the centre of the Doily.

I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede and cut it out with one of my Nestability dies. I sponged Crumb Cake on the edges.

I made a bunch of these up for the Farmers Market last weekend and I sold everyone of them. The customers just thought they were a riot. I did have some trouble figuring out a layout for her, I must admit.

I colored here dress different colors and then choose card stock around the color of her dress. Next time I may do it the other way around may make it easier, this color combination was great not too much can go wrong with pink and brown.

This is what I put on the inside.

Not too much to say today, I am expecting my son and his fiance this week so I have to get lots of stuff done before they get here but wanted to keep my blog up to date.

Field Flowers Take Three

It is the end of the week, I just can not believe how fast time is zooming by. Yesterday my family accompanied me to the city for the weekly grocery shopping for my husbands restaurant. My grandson is getting bigger and we did not use the car seat, boy what a difference that made in comfort in the back seat.

They decided to finally get a new computer. They have needed one for a long time. It is hard to decided which one to get. They gave me a bit of a hard time because I am always purchasing electronic gadgets and do not seem to have a hard time to make up my mind. What they don't know is the hours I spent on line doing what they did in person. Teehee So when I walk into the store I know what I am getting without all the decision making to do.

Well here is my card for today, although I am not thrilled with the colors it still is a great card. They other day somewhere I saw a centre step type card but it was done on the 5 1/2 side rather than the 4 1/4 side. I could not find any directions for cutting anywhere so I just improvised. I cut my slits from 1 to 5 1/2 on each side and then scored at 1, 2, 4 1/2 and 5 1/4. That worked for me but I don't know if that is how anyone else would do it.

I could not decided on what DSP to put on the rest of the card so I did not put any. Instead I chose to emboss a small design across the bottom and add some ribbon. I may change the color of the ribbon to yellow before I sell this card and see if it makes it pop a bit more. In real life it looks pretty nice but a little dull here, must be the photographer LOL.

Happy Hump Day

It is already the middle of the week, image that, huh. It was just Sunday hours ago it seems.

I am frantically trying to come up with some new designs for my Farmers Market, I am trying to use all things available to me. But today for some reason lime green and black were on my mind. I happen to love lime green as you can tell from my ipad2 cover to my iphone cover to my wardrobe.

So what was I going to do, I always go to my scraps first so I found this piece of potka dot DSP and went from there. I cut the potka dot piece 2 x 4 1/4 and added a strip of Lucky Limeade that had been punched with the Scalloped Border punch. I found some retired Kiwi Kiss Taffeta ribbon and it matched not to badly.

For my stamped image I first stamped the script stamp from French Foliage in Going Grey, then I randomly stamped the leaves in Lucky Limeage and the two Greys added my favourite part the spotches and layered this piece onto a piece of Lucky Limeade.

I then added these layers to a piece of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Black card stock. Then I added 3 silver brads. I decided on no sentiment for this card so it could be used for any occasion. Hope you like it.

Well the weekend is over, I am sure all the business people including my husband had a great weekend but are glad it is over. Me I just stayed in my stamp room and played between laundry and other household things.

I had made some practice flowers so I decided to put them to use on this card.

I actually cut into my new Well Worn DSP can't believe I did that. TeeHee I hate cutting new paper that I love I am just as bad with my fabric.

Any hoo, here is what I did. I took a piece of whisper white and stamped the French Script with Crumb Cake. Then with Soft Suede I stamped the leaves and branches, keeping in mind where my flowers were going to be, not like last card. Then I cut out around the leaves so that my flower would hang outside of the first layer. I applied the flowers stamped some of those blotches and my sentiment. I layered that piece onto Cajun Craze then Crumb Cake.

I cut a 2" strip from the Well Worn DSP add two strips of Cajun Craze that was punched out with the Scallop Border Punch. All of the layers were added to a piece of Soft Suede and my card was done.

Field Flowers Take One

Who knew, that such a beautiful stamp set could be such a challenge. Now don't get worried that it is hard to use, not at all just a little bit of a learning curve. LOL

I have a new type of stamp club starting next month and the way this one is going to work is like this. They will pick a stamp set for all of them to order. I will come up with a few designs, color combinations and techniques for the set. They will pick what accessories they want to make up their commitment dollars but everything will be there when they come for the class to take home. This is the first stamp set they chose. Cool Huh.

Well I was using the front page of the catalogue for my inspiration, and but was not completely liking what I was coming up with. However, after a few tries with different colors I settled on this one. It also helps when you go in your scrap bag and find a card all ready embossed etc.

It took several attempts to get the centre part to where I like it so I am going to share how I did that in the end. I used Sarah Sand for the lighter color and Early Espresso for the darker image. I also found from trial and error to stamp the Sarah Sand first then the Early Espresso for best results. At first I was trying Crumb Cake and it just did not look right for me but I was happy with the Sarah Sand and Early Espresso.

Another thing to keep in mind is where you stamp your flower. I just stamped my flower, then when I went to stamp my green stem part it was way out of line so I just improvised for this card but will stamp my greenery first next time so that I get it perfect. See what I mean about trial and error. LOL

I used the Elizabeth stamp as they did on the Catalogue stamped with Night of Navy, I also happened to have the birthday sentiment already sitting on my desk so I just used it. I also used the script from French Foliage and the splotches as I just love that look. You could also use the French Script background stamp and it would also look awesome. In my quest to use up all my stuff, I found this cute dragon fly and added it as afterthought. However, it is non Stampin Up.

Hi Everyone, if you are from Canada then like me you are enjoying the holiday weekend. We have a special festival here called the Icelandic Festival or for those of us who are not so interested we call it Ding Dong Weekend. You will see all kinds of Vikings wandering around and of course there is lots of Icelandic venues to visit for those who are new it probably is great but most of us hide out or head out for the weekend.

It seems that everyone forgets their manners, and just thinks that every thing is acceptable like walking six abreast the street when there are a million cars trying to get home after the fireworks. Not to mention that they are all dressed in black or dark clothing or that most of them are in very high spirits if you know what I mean. Well it is good for the the business folk and the town alike but I rather stay home and hang out with you guys and my cards.

Speaking of cards I finally pulled out my new doily stamps that I have been itching to try out. I happen to love the look of vintage and I knew what I would be doing with this as soon as I did get around to inking it up. Well enough jibber jabber here is my card.

I used white for my card base but you can not see that of course, my next layer was Soft Suede, then I stamped several of the Delicate Dollies some in first generation Soft Suede some in second generation on Very Vanilla. In case you don't know second generation just means I did not re ink the stamp.

Then I used Versa Mark on the Large Doily Background stamp and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I sponged Soft Suede ink all over it and the rest of the Very Vanilla piece.

I tied a piece of Seam binding ribbon and added as a second thought the 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Early Espresso. I pulled a centre string in the seam binding to give it that scrunched look.

I stamped the sentiment which seemed very fitting as I can remember when every table in the living room and bedrooms all had doilies on them. I stamped it in Early Espresso and used one of my Nestabilities die to cut it out.

I have been very busy this week, I can not tell you what I have accomplished because if I look around I can not see anything that I have done. But I was busy.

I recently purchased a new paper cutter from Tonic the 12 x 12 size and was impressed with the cutting but not the ruler because it is all in orange printing and hard to see especially at night. I emailed them asking if there was any other model that perhaps was not orange. The fellow emailed me back and said this is the way they are being made now but that he had some steel self stick rulers he could send me and perhaps that would help. Well they arrived today and makes it so much easier to see. I just hope I have them on straight I guess my next cutting session will tell me how I did.

My card today is a case of Mary Fishes card for Mojo Monday. I loved the way she used the browns. So I pulled out some scrap pieces to see if I could hopefully do as good as a job as she did.

It looks very nice in real life, a little dull on here.

I used on of the sentiments from Favourite Thoughts. I really like the sayings in this set and especially this one. I think it is very fitting as I can think of several places were if they had asked a women things would have been done very different. For instance, a women's washroom stall. A man obviously designed these.

Card Buffet - Friends Never Fade

I just sat down to start my blog post, the sun was shining, got up to answer the phone and came back to almost darkness. Weird.

There is a huge black cloud above me and the winds just picked up like crazy and the the power went off. I had already unplugged my laptop so I did not loose power on it. I guess we are going to get a storm. It has been extremely hot here +38 degrees Celsius for us that is very hot. I am so glad we had air conditioning installed this year.

I believe that I may be casing the layout of this card or at least parts of it. I had this card in my card buffet that I held last week. Thank you ladies for attending it means alot to me.

I used the Delicate Dots embossing folder and embossed the card front. I attached a piece of Pear Pizazz on the side and then a piece of retired DSP in Rich Razzleberry to the other side. I cut a square upon which the stamped image was placed. The image from Friends Never Fade was colored with the Stamp and Write markers. I did use my nestabilities to cut the Whisper White. The sentiment is from a new stamp set called Petit Pairs. I also used Rich Razzleberry dotted ribbon which is retired. Got to use up these supplies.

Well it is Friday again, were does the week go? I was looking at some old things I had saved and came across a card made similar to this.

I thought what a great card for someone who likes to write a message, kinda like a post card. Then I thought hey I could use my new postage stamp punch too. I still had French Foliage on my counter so I just inked it up in some of the new in color inks and put this little number together.

I did not want this to be too feminine so I tried to tone it down with River Rock, as I look at it while I am typing this it would have also looked awesome with Early Expresso. I see another one coming when I am finished typing.

This is the two pieces, which gives the sender some room to write and also on the back.

Have you ever surveyed your stamp sets and thought, Wow, all I seem to own is flowers or flowery things for stamp sets.

I am really trying to use all my sets but lately, I guess because I am making so many cards at the present time I keep coming across flowers. I have to try to make a conscience choice about what my next stamp sets are going to be.

Luckily I came across a set that I have not used yet and there is no flowers, YEAH. I am trying to make cards that are not so elaborate. That is more my style but if I want to produce faster I have to go for a much simpler approach. I do not know how many of you have this problem, that is, of making very simple cards. But for me, that is so much harder than an elaborate card. They always just look unfinished to me.

I really envy those who can make simple cards, please share how!

Here is my card, it is about as simple as I can do. I used my copics to color the cliff and sponged Pacific Point on the inside of the stamped image. I did the same thing with the sentiment.

French Foilage Birthday

Well I had my fourth Saturday at the Farmers Market and I really expected it to slow down for me. After all most folks go to these things for the fresh vegetables etc. There are a couple of gals selling Epicore products but again food related. So I really did think things would slow down for me but to my pleasant surprise NOPE I am still fairing well with my cards and retired stamp sets.

The only problem I have right now is keeping up with making cards, when you have other obligations it is not so easy to producing lots of cards. So I had to get some help by viewing SC for some ideas to get me going.

I had regretted not purchasing French Foliage when it was in the mini and then a gal on SC was selling hers so I purchased it and was very happy to see that it is is the Big Catalogue for 2011-2012.

I was inspired by a card on SC for my card today, I did change it up a bit by using different colors. I have most of my current stamp pad colors in boxes for my Card Buffet on Friday so I was pushed to use what I had left on my shelves. This can be a good thing, as I kept the colors because I liked them.

I stamped the spots in Basic Brown, the words and shadowing in Creamy Carmel the leaves were Cajun Craze, Basic Brown and Purley Pomerate. I had some seam binding from my LSS as well as the fake brads.

Well I said I would show the other colors from my previous card. I had decided to make three of each, using the 2012 in colors. I did not know how much work that was going to be, fussy cutting all those flowers, sponging and of course assembling. Won't be mass producing these babies any time soon. LOL

I used all the new in colors and one previous in color, Concord Grape as I need a co-ordinating color for the Wisteria (light purple).

I hope everyone had a great Canada Day weekend, and for my American friends Happy 4th of July. The weather here was absolutely wonderful. I participated in the local farmers market again this weekend and there were many new visitors as well as some repeat visitors.

I sold lots of cards and some of my retired stamp sets and was very pleased with my sales for the day.

While perusing Stampin Connection the other day, I came across a card that really inspired me to create this card. I did go back to find the original stamper went through all 24 pages but could not find the card. So if it looks familiar to you please take it as a compliment.

I changed my card up a bit by only having ribbon on the top. I also sprintzed water on the sponging to give it a mottled look, and I used my Stamp and Write markers to give the flower some more dimension.

In the photo below you can see were I added the marker to the flower layers.

In the following photo you can see the mottling, I also did this card in each of the new in colors the mottling looks best on the Indigo and Luck Limeade but I have not assembled those cards yet and I wanted to have a post for you today. I will post one of them in the next day or so. Then you will be better able to see the mottling.

I wanted to step out of my box and use some colors that were not in my usual comfort zone.

I love Poppy Parade but was not sure what to pair it up with. So I figured that since all of STAMPIN UP's colors co-ordinate that Pear Pizzazz should go with the Poppy. At first I thought it was too bright but just decided to let it be.

After putting the card together I left it for a bit and it grew on me. LOL

I also decided to give the spritzer a try after watching a video on how to use properly. I now know that it is important to have the marker in the right place for the spritzer to work properly. I still need to practice as you can see on the card I have some spots were I was to heavy in my opinion.

Hi Friends, Happy Wednesday.

When the summer mini came out and it had a sailing theme I was very happy. I live in a resort community with a huge lake (Lake Winnipeg). I thought I would have some potential to sell some cards made up with the sailing theme.

So I am working on some more cards for the Farmers Market and I make up a couple like this one.

It is such an easy card to mass produce. My first layer is Marnia Mist, followed by a Whisper White layer that I ran through the Big Shot with the Lattice Embossing Folder but I left a blank spot at the bottom to stamp the sentiment.

I added some Marnia Mist ribbon and some bakers twine then added my stamped image which was layered on Marnia Mist. I used the SU Stamp and Write markers to add a few highlights on the water and in the sails. I also put two brads on the side.

Fabulous Florets Wedding

Hi again, I really think Mother Nature is going through some sort of crisis. It was so cool here today, I could have easily put on a fall jacket. This is just crazy, between the unfortunate people who are getting flooded out, and the farmers who can't plant their crops etc. etc. etc. Please Mother Nature take a pill or something to get back to normal.

As I mentioned the other day, I am doing this Farmer's Market thing and my card today was made with that in mind.

I used the Fabulous Florets stamp set. I stamped the large stamp with Versa Mark and then heat embossed it with Iridescence Ice. It does not show well in the picture but it is very pretty in real life.

I cut it out with a Nestabilities die as well as the piece that is is layered on. I still had some of the Bride DSP so I thought I would use it for the first layer and the matting layer of the stamped design. Going to get through all my retired paper yet. LOL

I added some of the small pearls to the centre of the flower. When I was about to stamp the sentiment, I felt that white embossing would be hard to see and Black ink to dark, so I used Going Grey it gave it a soft feeling rather than a blatant black.

The first white layer is also from the Bride DSP, I ran it through the big shot with the Delicate Dots Embossing Folder. I have to say I like it much better in real life it looks a bit over powering in the photo.

I have been a vendor at our local Farmer's Market for the past two Saturdays. I was not sure if this was something I wanted to do but thought it may give me a chance to sell my hundreds of cards I have sitting here. Most of all to possible get some exposure and get my name and Stampin Up out to those who do not know about it.

Turns out many do, most of the folks visiting the market are from our next largest city, and already have demos but they really liked my cards.

While I try to make many different themed cards, I did not have many baby cards. So I pulled out my only baby set, checked out SCS for some inspiration (thanks Corie) and came up with this card.

While it is a bit difficult to see in the picture, I had a stamp of baby feet, have no idea where it is from, but I stamped the little feet all over the white piece of card stock then ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice Embossing Folder and sponged the edges.

I found a piece of DSP in my stash, while it is SU I do not know from which collection but I do know that it is retired. I stamped the sentiment on a half piece of the top note and sponged the edge. After I had adhered the layers I added some satin ribbon and tie a bow and adhered it with a glue dot.

I added some color to the giraffe and cut it out with my Nestabilitie die as well as the scalloped piece behind the stamped image.

Plane and Simple

Hi Everyone, todays card is one of the cards I have in my card buffet. It is an excellent masculine card and fairly easy to do. I think I may have been inspired from another blog on this but if I did, I did not save the picture to give credit.

My card base is Almost Navy, then a layer of So Saffron which I ran through the Big Shot with one of my embossing folders then sponged Chocolate Chip all over it.

I stamped the plane and the watch in Chocolate Chip and then used the sprintzer tool with a marker to age it and also sponged the edges. My name is Peggy and I am a sponge aholic.

I added a brad to the centre of the watch and attached it with a glue dot. I stamped the sentiment added a brad. I tied twine around the bottom.

The layer under the plane was stamped in Cherry Cobbler and layered with So Saffron. Hope you enjoy it.

Sneak Peak New Catalogue

He everyone, well guess what it is raining again. We are supposed to have a thunderstorm everyday until next Tuesday. We already have way too much water, people are loosing their homes it is almost too much.

Saturday my Upline had a Downline get together and she pulled out some of the new things that we were able to pre-order as demos. That is a great thing about being a demo we get to order and see things first. Yeah

Christmas is my favourite thing to craft and guess what our card was from one of the new Christmas sets called Snow Much Fun, you will love it, especially if you like snowmen.

Also on the card is the new border punch Lace Ribbon. It is much bigger and prettier in real life than when you see it in the catalogue.

The card base is Riding Hood Red, I sponged Chocolate Chip around the edges. The border punch was also punched in Riding Hood Red and sponged with the Chocolate Chip and adhered to the centre.

My mat for the stamped imaged is Old Olive and the Chocolate Chip but I added Silver Glass Glitter to the outside edge of the Chocolate Chip so it is hard to see. Then I adhered with dimensionals my colored image. I used the Stamp and Write Markers to color my snowman and I also applied some Dazzling Diamonds to his hat and the snowball.

The sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip and punched out with the Modern Label punch and adhered with dimensionals. I also added two small pearls on the sentiment.

Hi everyone sorry for not posting for awhile. I have been woking on my cards for my Card Buffet and they are now finalized but I can not post them yet.

Between the various things going on around here and anxiously awaiting my new blog design I have just not being able to post anything worthy of your viewing pleasure. That is until today.

This card is made from a new set in the Summer mini called Fabulous Florets. I also used a new to me centre step card for the base. I used the new embossing powder Wild Wasabi on Black card stock for the stem part, this is also found in the new Mini.

The DSP that I used on the sides is from the Hostess Level One patterns pack. Card stock is Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait.

Bliss Sample for Char

Yesterday I had a friend come over to make her 50th Birthday invitations. She had fallen in love the the Bliss stamp set from Sale-a-brations and wanted to use it to create her invitation.

I wanted to have a couple of samples ready for her so that we could decide which why she wanted to go.

I also love this set, so it was great to have an excuse to spend some time inking it up.

The card I am posting is what she ending up using, but instead of putting the Bliss sentiment she used Your Invited. I did not think to take a picture of what her invitation is going to look like but it is similar to my card.

I used Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait and Whisper White card stock and ink. I also heat embossed the Bliss.

Now that Stampin Up has come out with some new embossing colors we won't have to use the Versa Mark and the other stamp pad color all the time, although it is great being able to make your embossing any color you want.

I have been a fan of the watercolor reinker technique for some time. I was so pleased when I saw this stamp set because I knew it would be perfect for this technique. I may not be calling it by its correct name but it is a very simple and stunning way to color flowers especially.

I had to make a card for my friends birthday party. It is funny how when you are the Stampin Up demo everyone expects your card to be fabulous. It puts a lot of pressure on us sometimes. LOL

I hope she will like my card and the present.

I used Tangerine Tango to color my flowers and Wild Wasabi for the leaves. I first embossed them with black embossing powder before I colored them with the reinkers.

Flower Garden

Well, now that my holiday is over it is back to work. I had a wonderful time in Medicine Hat along with some very nice weather, although it snowed the day after I left.

I have been working on my cards for the card buffet, my card today is one that I may or may not put in. I have not decided but I am quite please with the results.

Now that I have a sponge dauber box it is so nice to just pick up the color and put it back without having to wash them all the time because I am not sure which blue I used etc.

My card uses the new Embossing folder from Stampin Up called Flower Garden. I used my sponge daubers in Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz. Just rub lightly on the raised edges and you get a stunning result.

I stamped the small flower from a new stamp set in the Summer Mini called Fabulous Florets. I know I will be using this set alot in the near future. On top of the flowers I stamped the sentiment from Word Play. When I get my new embossing powders I think I will emboss the sentiment to make it stand out more.

On the edge and in the centre area of the sentiment I sponged Pacific Point.

Second Card My Buffet

There has been a interesting thread going on Stampin Connection about Card Buffets. I am going to try one next month and see how it goes.

At a card buffet you sign in for a minimum, in my case the minimum will be 8 for $16.00 of your choice, but, you can make as many of any one card you want.

Example: the first 8 of your choice is $16.00 any that you make past the 8 are $2 each, again your choice of cards. So technically you could make 6 of one card 2 of another 3 of still another, or 10 cards one of each. Make sense! There will be at least 10 designs to choose from. It will eliminate any cards that may not be to your fancy and if one particular one takes your fancy you can make extras.

I will try to keep it with many styles and themes. This is going to be one of the masculine ones to give you an idea of what you can expect.

This card uses the New stamp set "The Open Sea" this is a great masculine card that could be used for a birthday, note card, thinking of you etc.

Hello my blogging friends.

Just a short post today, I am getting ready to leave on my trip. There are so many things to do when the lady of the house leaves for a few days. I am sure you ladies out there know what I mean. Besides the task of packing for my trip, I still feel that I have to clean the house, what is with that!!!

I found some more card bits left over from a class and decided to put them together for today`s card. This card is one of those that when you make a boo boo it is a chance for some embellishments. Hence the corner.

I colored this image with Watercolor Crayons from SU. I have never used them before but they are great. I felt that they did not make the paper as wet, but that could just be my imagination or maybe I am just getting better at having a light touch.

There is not much to tell about the card, I sponged around the image, and tie a ribbon on not much else to explain.

The Open Sea

Hello my blogging friends, I hope you do not mind me calling you that, because I really feel that most of my friends are on the Internet. I have seen a huge increase in visitors and subscriptions and I am so pleased that you would care enough to do that.

I got some new stamp sets in the last few days and this is one of them. I felt living about 5 minutes from a huge lake the new sailing ship stamps would be very appropriate for this area. They will be available to you in just a short few days. I am very impressed with the etching on these stamps. Great masculine cards are in my future at least I hope I come up with some great idea. (God if your reading this please send me a big shot of creativity. Thanks)

I actually had a different idea in mind when I started this card but it did not quite turn out, but being the person I am I continued on with what I had.

It is hard to see but I first stamped the ship in Black and covered it up and then stamped the Log/Leger book in Crumb Cake. Sponged the edge with Crumb Cake and Pacific Point.

Stamped the ship again and cut it out layered it on top of the first stamped ship after it was sponged and the water colored. I tied some of the new Bakers Twine on the top. I was surprised at how soft this twine was I was expecting it to be more plasticity (sp) it is very easy to work with.

I then colored and added the anchor at the bottom edge. I used some of the new DSP Nautical Expedition and my card base is Not Quite Navy.

I finally got a new stamp set. Yeah!

I am so glad to have some masculine sets. I know they are probably going to retire as they all are from the mini's but Masculine is so hard to find in the Stampin Up product line so I decided to just take a chance and hope they will make it to the large catalogue.

I used the Mojo Sketch 186 challenge for my card. The DSP is Elegant Soiree. The stamp set is Plane and Simple pretty much sums up my card as well.

I stamped the top piece of the DSP with the watch stamp just to give it a different look. There is not really much else to say about the card, I think you can figure it out should you want to case it. I don't mind at all.

Thinking of Spring

Hi again, I am really beginning to see that Spring has arrived. My 8' snow banks are gone, the grass has a slight tinge of green and looks like it could use a raking but it is too wet.

I can't wait to plant flowers this year. I have not done so for many years, because the yard I had got so much sun I could not keep up with the watering, the hose was on the neighbours side which made it more work than it was worth for me.

At our new house I have a hose that is placed in the correct spot for watering and the previous owner has left me many old whiskey barrels to plant. I also like them because they are a little higher off the ground making it easier to work with. Of course I can't not plant anything for at least 6 weeks but I can start to think of what I would like to plant and keep an eye out for where the sun is at different times of the day.

My card today is of course flowers, I am anxiously awaiting my pre-order from Stampin Up with new stamp sets that are masculine. As well, they are water themed being that they are ships. Living on Lake Winnipeg there are many boaters here and I hope to sell some cards to them. Although we don't get many tall ships I am sure they will appreciate them anyway.

Here is my card, nothing fancy, used the masking technique.

The stamp sets I used are Fast and Fabulous and Watercolor Trio. All the ink was Early Expresso except for the sponging I used Soft Suede. Thanks for stopping by.

SCCSC62 Sketch Challenge at Stampin Connection

Each week the demo site Stampin Connection has its own sketch challenge.

My card today is based on that sketch.

My card base is Poppy Parade. The stamp set I used is Just Believe. I stamped the circular image on Whisper White and ran it through what looks like my favourite embossing folder Lattice. The image was stamped with Poppy Parade ink. The sketch called for a corner so I used a white and a Poppy Parade corner punch.

I colored the main image with Stampin Up markers and layered it on a piece of Poppy Parade. I tied a piece of Whisper White seam binding on the bottom of it.

For the sentiment I used the ink left on the circular image and stamped it across and then stamped the Thank You, l punched it out with the large oval punch and also punched two Poppy Parade ones and layered them together.

Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge Time Again

I was able to squeeze some extra stamping time in and decided to play with the Stamping 411 sketch challenge this week.

I am running out of designs that are current so I decided to take a Christmas Time stamp and make it Spring Time stamp.

I used Gifts of Christmas and Friends Never Fade stamp sets to make my card. I first stamped the flower from Friends Never Fade in Blushing Bride and then used the Rock and Roll technique to give the outside edges a deep color. For the Rock and Roll I used Rose Red. Then I embossed it with the Lattice Embossing Folder. My card base is Blushing Bride.

I colored the main image with Stampin Up Markers and layered this on a piece of Blushing Bride. I made two borders with the Dotted Scallop Border Punch and then I tied a piece of Blushing Bride ribbon onto this layer.

Another Case

Happy Sunday.

I have one more item from Chris's blog that I found at a timely time. I wanted to give a small gift to a friend at church today.

This book mark was perfect. The only problem I had, was trying to remember the size of her bible. LOL So I just decided that I would make it for about an average size Bible.

Since I still had everything on the table from my last post I decided to color it up again in the same colors. All products are Stampin Up except for the die cuts and the Bible verse. I really wish Stampin Up had more verses for us.

Friends Never Fade Meets Paisley Petals

Hello stamping friends, sorry for the MIA. Unfortunately life does demand more of us than stamping. For the life of me I don't know why!!!

One of my most favourite things to do in the evening is blog surf for ideas. I particularly like to look at other stamping company blogs because I want to challenge myself to use Stampin Products to somewhat reproduce what they have done with non Stampin Up products. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

This is my card for today, while Chris Olsen's looks spectacular I think mine looks pretty good too! It is all Stampin UP except for the large ovals.

Here is my card:

I used the Top Note die to make my card base, this was probably the most time consuming part to get three layers. Then I cut out my black scalloped ovals with my Nestabilities.

Cut a piece of DSP from Paisley Petals and put those layers together. Cut another oval from Whisper White and I used the 2 way glue stick and added Stampin Up Fine Cosmo glitter to the edge.

I colored the image from Friends Never Fade with Stampin Up Markers and stamped it twice in opposite directions and cut it out the Nestabilities. I sponged the edge with River Rock ink and then layered it on the Black Scalloped Oval.

After I stamped the Birthday greeting I cut it out with the large oval punch, I also punched two ovals in black and placed them behind the sentiment to give it a layered look. I cut two swirls from the Swirls Scribbles die and put one on each end of the sentiment layer. Finally I added some of the Stampin Up lace across the bottom.

There was still some ink left on the image stamp and I stamped that on the inside of the card.

I Think Spring May Finally Be Here

The birds are singing, the geese are flying above me, I think Spring must be on its way here finally.

I have found a new way to clean my stamping table, just make cards from the bits and pieces around me.

I had stamped and punched some extra petals from the Blossom Petals punch and Build a Blossom stamp set, so I used them and some other worthwhile to save pieces and put this card together.

Not my go to first colors but it was fun to use a new color to me, Poppy Parade.

Building Blossoms

Have you ever been day dreaming and all of a sudden you get this brilliant idea. Well, last night I was soaking, trying to meditate on the Lord, not doing a very good job I might add as I kept getting this image in my head. Now, some might say that was the Lord and I certainly will give credit to him because without him, I could not create anything.

So off I go to my stamp room, it's only 11:30 p.m. I still have time to create my idea. Yeah, well at 1:30 my husbands gets up and say "Whatcha Doing" . So I show him my progress, really nice honey and goes on to make him self a snack.

It took me longer to punch my pieces than anything, and I guess because it was late I did not think to go look at You Yube to see if someone out there had figured a shorter way.

Well, I decided to go to bed at this point and knowing that my plan was intact could finish up in the morning. Well, I woke up got on You Tube found Dawn O.'s I won't even try to spell her name but wow, she made the rest of my creation so easy.

So without further a do, here it is. In real life it looks amazing if I do say so.

It was alot of sponging and punching but so worth it. Thanks for stopping by and thank you Lord for giving me all the help I need. My favourite saying to myself these days is "I and do anything in life through Christ" this page proves that in my opinion.

Build a Blossom Birthday

I have my stamp club meeting next week and I am working on my projects for them. I always try to ask the hostess what they would like to learn or see.

Jennifer is the hostess this period and she had wanted Easter but I have to confess that I do not have any Easter stamp sets. So I asked if she would like to see the latest punches and co-ordinating stamps sets and when I showed her the Build a Blossom and Create a Cup Cake she lite up and said yes, please.

So here is one of the cards I have come up with (not showing all as I know a few of the girls look here now and then. Oh gosh, I forgot I am putting these blog entries on facebook now so they might all see it. Hope you like it girls.

I think this stamp set and punch will be a great addition to any scrapbookers stash. It has so many possibilities.

Another Scrap Pile Find

Well what a day today was. Nobody told me that as my first pension cheque approaches that my memory would take off.

First I forgot to do an annual report for the government, got everything ready to go to town and mail this report only to realize that I did not write a cheque for the payment of this annual report.

So back home to write a cheque, back to town, only to come home and forget to get gas for my trip to Winnipeg tomorrow.

I wanted to make some cupcakes for a friends birthday in case she came to a meeting tonight and while making her card forgot about the cupcakes in the oven, thankfully I did not burn them but a few more minutes and who knows what they would have looked like.

Then coming home I asked my husband to stop by our post office box to see if there was any mail, once I opened the box I remembered I did that already today.

So I ask what else is going to be forgotten?

My card share for today is another one make from my save for later pile, I think I may have made this in a class before but I don't think I have shared it on my blog yet. Who knows maybe I forgot that too!

Left Overs

I was cleaning up my stamp table and came across this image that I had colored.

I guess I was not satisfied at the time or it did not work for what I was trying to do. Not unusual for me.

As I was gathering the rest of the things I had set aside, that were still good and just did not make the cut at the time, I was able to pull this card together.

Isn't it amazing how our Stampin Up products go together so well no matter what you are doing.

If you look closely you can see the background piece that I had used on a previous card Here. I had stamped this in the wrong direction for that card but felt that I may be able to use somewhere else. I had to tie the hemp twine together to make it go around a few times but put that knot in the back.

Talk about re-cycling, my daughter would be proud of me. Glad I saved it. Hope you like it. Thanks for the comments, love to read them.

Here is a new picture of the new baby in the family, can you tell my daughter is a happy MOM.

She really needs to fix the date on her camera as this was taken today. I got to see him, touch him, oh my, he was so soft and cuddly and so handsome.

Imagining the Possiblilities

This weekend my daughter brought home a bunch of new horses. This is going to open up a whole new realm of possibilities for her.

One of the horses she purchased was pregnant (do you call a horse pregnant?) and has since had her baby the other day. She gave my daughter and her family a new addition. Isn't he adorable. I believe he has been named "Prince". I am quite excited to go and see him this afternoon, I have never seen a baby horse before. I am more of a cat/dog lover.

He is all legs to me but such nice markings.

Anyway, on to my card. I made this card with two things in mind. It is my daughters anniversary so I may give her this card and also it is for the Stamping 411 challenge.

Every Moment

As I was sitting infront of my computer looking outside at the sunset I thought about making a card with a sunset like the one outside. Even though it is still cold here the sun continues to shine and I can live with that. We are supposed to have + temps next week so I am holding out for that.

I really liked my layout from my last post and decided to use the same one for this card. I have not done alot of brayering so I thought instead of sponging like I usually do I would try brayering. I had some trouble getting it smooth but once I trimed it to the size I wanted I ending cutting most of what I did not like off.

I colored the image in neutral colors as I wanted to get more of a shilouette look but it kind of faded with the brayering that I probably should have done first. (Lightbulb moment here). Once I was finished coloring etc. the image looked like it as floating as they say, so I decided that the bullrushes were in the ditch as many are here so I added some white squigges to look like they were in water in the ditch.

I layered my stamp image on black as well as the sentiment that comes with the stamp set. I had these sticky buttons that I had won at a scrapagandza and I thought it would look good against the background.

Fast and Fab

This set is truly named appropriately because it is Fast and Fabulous. I had not cleaned my stamp area from my last card and thought what else can I do with this set, I love it so much.

I think I would have to say I have probably used this set the most of all my sets. I used this set for my swaps at Convention last year and for many Birthday cards since it came out. I hope they have something like it in the new catalogue.

This card is so stinking simple that anyone can reproduce it without any trouble. It could be made with any combination of colors but I personally I like the dark color on white with the black layer.

All I did was stamp the outline stamp and the 2 step stamp that goes with it, all in black ink. Then I sponged Crumb Cake around the edges. On thing I will mention is to make sure that the solid (2 step part) is completely dry so that you don't end up with some black on you sponging. I did get some but was able to blend it in. If you were using a lighter color it may not blend so well.

I am so happy, the Sun has shone for two days in a row. WOW. I know that may seem corny to some of you gals in the south, but up here were it is still in the - degrees at least the sun makes up for the cold.

My snow banks are down at least two feet, I can now see the neighbours vehicles and the cars coming down the highway again.

In praise of this glorious sunshine I made my sunny card today. I cut out some rough edge rectangles and sponged color inside them. I used Pear Pizzazz and Marnia Mist then I stamped the outline stamp from Fast and Fabulous on top of the colored squares.

I adhered the stamped image to a piece of Pear Pizzazz and tied some hemp string around the base of the stamped image layer.

I stamped the sentiment from Matchbox Messages and layered it on some Pear Pizzazz. I then layered these two on to another layer of Whisper White that was embossed with the Small Dots and then onto Pear Pizzazz and finally all of this was adhered to my card base of Marnia Mist.

Birthday Bliss

Hello friends, I sure had a great day today. I had the pleasure of having my grandson for the day. His parents and sister went to see a horse that was for sale. His Mom thought he may be bored with the trip as it was about a 2 hour ride each way plus the time they would have spent viewing the horse and talking to its owner.

They did not purchase the horse because my daughter felt that the horse was very under weight ( 100+ lbs) and its feet were not in very good condition. Although her first instincts were to take the horse and nurse it, she knew that she could also be contaminating her other horses if this horse had a respiratory condition.

Just before Ryan arrived I had started this card. Earlier I had seen a card on Stampin Connection by Madeline Morcelo were she had adhered circles and ovals on her card and I just had to try that with the lattice folder. I love how this turned out if I do say so myself.

I did not color the image, but I did take one of my pink gel pens and color the dots, one of the layers and the swirly thing on one of the layers. I sponged Pink Pirouette on the stamped image.

Awash With Flowers

Happy St. Patricks day to you all. I am Irish so hence my stubbornness as my husband would say but I am also part Icelandic so I get a double dose of stubbornness. Hah

I have had the Awash With Flowers set for some time now and I decided that it was time to try it out. My photo does not do the card justice it is really quite pretty in real life. I added some glitter and shimmer paint to the flowers but I am unsure about how I like that but it is there now, .... so, it stays. LOL

I decided to cut out the flowers and pop then up with a dimensionals thought it would give them some definition. The sentiment is from Whimsical Words punched out with the extra large oval punch. I used a sponge dauber with Red Rose then Chocolate Chip on the oval and added some 1/4 " grosgrain ribbon.

The patterned DSP is retired but you could easily swap it out with Chocolate Chip card stock and emboss it with one of our great embossing folders.

Animal Story Birthday

Hello, happy Wednesday to you. I actually went outside today, I hate the cold. But it is a balmy 0 degrees Celsius here. No sun but so much easier on the body. Just can't wait to have my morning coffee outside.

I needed a birthday card for a young person this week so I dug around my stamps and came up with Animal Stories. The animals in this set are so adorable, in my opinion anyway.

I also dug thru my stash of DSP for some fun prints and found some DSP from last year. I used the Tasteful Trims die to cut my large scallop edge.

Very easy card to make, one color of ink.

Strength and Hope - New in the Summer Mini

Well, my 8 foot snow banks look a little shorter today, can almost see the top of half ton trucks when they go by. I am using the snow bank as a measurement for how quickly Spring is not coming.

On a brighter note, todays card was made using a new set that is going to be in the new summer mini coming out very soon. It is called Strength and Hope. Good thing it does not have refuge as I seem to like the word refuse better LOL. See some posts back for that story.

The card base is Early Expresso, and I layered some DSP (retired Baja Breeze) on Baja Breeze card stock and place those layers on the card.

I was given these Nestability dies as a gift so I thought I would try one. I first stamped the flourish second generation ink on with Baja Breeze then sponged the outside with the die still on. I stamped the HOPE and embossed it with clear embossing powder from Stampin Up.

I stamped and embossed the butterfly with white embossing powder and cut it out. Beautiful butterfly it is. I added some colored rhinestones to its body.

Mojo Monday Week 182 - Dream A Little

It is the start of a new week and a new identity for me. I officially filed for my Canada Pension today, I feel very old now.

Well here is a set from the past mixed with a set from the present. Dream a Little was a Hostess set in 2009 I think and the sentiment is from Afterthoughts Hostess set from the present.

This is the Mojo Monday Sketch for this week.

I like to combine different stamp images together to get a complete new look on the image. As you will see in my interpretation of the Mojo sketch my circular image is made up of 3 different stamps, the leaves, the flowers and the sentiment stamp. I love combining stamps to get a whole new image. On the rectangle piece I stamped the large flower from the set and with stamped with Crumb Cake the 2 step flower then ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice Embossing Folder ( this one is sure getting a work out these days) then I sponged on some more Crumb Cake. I layered this piece on a piece of River Rock then onto the Old Olive layer. I used the same colors for the layering on the circle layer.

Here is another masculine birthday card. I still am unsure which card I will use for my SAS but I kind of like the previous one a little better. Perhaps it is the colors?

My card base for this card is Whisper White, added a piece of Soft Suede 4 x 5 1/4. Then a piece of Crumb Cake that just happened to fit about 3 1/2 4 3/4". I had a scrap piece of Old Olive DSP and to it I added a piece of Old Olive that I had use the scalloped border punch on. Then I tied a piece of River Rock retired SU ribbon.

I stamped the bird with Early Expresso and layered it on a piece of Soft Suede. I stamped the sentiment from Bring on the Cake.

Countryside - Birthday Card

I had a great weekend, if you do not count catching a cold and flu from my husband.

I was in need of a masculine card for the stamp a stack I am hoping to hold before the end of the month. While I was checking out Stampin Connection I found a weekly challenge to give me some inspiration for masculine card.

My card base is Night of Navy, followed by a piece of Blueberry Crisp DSP 4 x 5 1/4. The sketch had two pieces of the top note so I used Night of Navy again but I ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice embossing folder then cut it in half and place one on each side of the DSP.

I stamped the truck image from the stamp set and cut it out with my Nestability die and layered it on a piece of Crumb Cake also cut out with a Nestability.

I stamped the birthday sentiment from Watercolor Trio and punched it out the the large oval punch from SU and layered it on a Crumb Cake piece that had also been embossed with the Lattice embossing folder and then punch out with the SU punch correct name eludes me at the moment.

Very simple but elegant card that would be great for Father's Day as well.

Silhouette Sentiments

Well it is almost Friday. The days are going by so fast. It is warming up a little here but we got more snow this afternoon. Apparently according to Environment Canada we can expect six (6) more weeks of this cold weather. Anyone in a warmer climate want to adopt me?

I just received this Hostess stamp set the other day and decided to ink it up, well technically I colored it with our Stampin Up Markers.

Stampin Up Markers are so great, you get such a range of colors and makes a image really pop when you can color the flowers and stems different colors. I put both the sentiment and the image on the same block so I only had to stamp once another great feature of the clear block stamps that Stampin Up sells, don't you think.

My card base is Regal Rose, next layer is Crumb Cake, I layered a piece of DSP (retired) on Rose Red. I had a scrap of the other piece of DSP already punched with the Lacey Border Punch. I layered my stamped image on Regal Rose.

This card was made with the Sudsol Stamp Set Challenge in mind.

I am experimenting with colors that I seldom go to and learning to use them more often. I was flipping through the DSP Regals pack and decided to use the Night of Navy stripe pattern. Because the Night of Navy is so dark I just decided to use white as my contrast.

I used the scalloped ribbon border punch from Stampin Up for the trim on the DSP. I cut out the swirly piece from the Sizzex Swirly die.

I was going to leave the stamped image as white and I sort of wish I had but I will do that next time. I stamped the butterfly with Whisper White on the DSP. Just plain and simple.

SUDSOL CHALLENGE 133

Well it's a new week with new challenges. We have actually had a couple of nice days here. It will be short lived unfortunately.

My card today was made for the Sudsol Design Challenge which was to make a easy to demonstrate card.

My card base is Crumb Cake, my yellow strip is Daffodil Delight which I embossed with the Lattice Stampin Up embossing folder.

I coloured the image from "Friends Never Fade" with Stampin Up markers in Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasobi. I layered this image on a piece of Tangerine Tango.

The sentiment is from Watercolor Trio it was stamped in Early Expresso then punched out with the large oval punch. I sponged the edge with Peach Parfait.

I tied a piece of Early Expresso 1/8" ribbon around the Daffodil Delight piece before adhering it to the card base.

Today I attended my first Aglow meeting. This is a group of Christian women who meet to fellowship etc.

So I am sitting there trying to fit in, etc. the meeting starts and what do I see ....... a Kleenex box. The box was kinda a mottled peach color and there was a kinda bush design on it on the left hand corner. While I know God will forgive me for letting my mind wonder, I could so envision my next card.

By the time the meeting was over I knew exactly what sentiment I had to use and who is was going to.

Stampin Connection - Challenge SCCSC55

I made this card with the SCCSC55 sketch challenge on Stampin Connection. For those who are not Stampin Up demonstrators, this is a exclusive web site for us demos to share our creativity.

I used the DSP from Blueberry Crisp as my starting point. I save all the bits that are left over from various cards so my scallop edge is a left over from the Tasteful Trims die.

I cut my squares 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 and my rectangles are 1 3/4 x 3. I sometimes find that getting those type of pieces the right size takes some trial and error but I lucked out today and got it on the first try.

I colored the flower with Blender Pens and stamp pads.

My card for today is again for another SUDSOL challenge this was a Sketch Challenge.

Sometimes a simple card like the sketch is actually harder for me because there are not many layers.

I have really been wanting to use my stamp sets more often than I do so instead of going for the newer ones. I went after some of the older ones. This time I found Flower Fancy at first I was not sure what I was going to do but I was going to use this set some way, shape or form.,

I started with the branch stamp and by masking my first stamped image I was able to add a second one which made the branch look longer I was please with that. I colored it with the stamp pads and a blender pen. This method works very well as long as you are light handed and you can add alot of different colors if you stay light handed. The flowers have three shades of blue Bashful Blue was first, Marnia Mist and then Night of Navy and this was on Whisper White and I had no pilling at all. I colored the centre with Daffodil Delight and added Dazzling Diamonds. The stamped image was layered on Marnia Mist.

I randomly stamped the large flower from the set and used the second step stamp with the help of the stamp-ma-jig then ran it through the big shot with the Lattice embossing folder. Looks spectacular in real life if I do say so. This embossing folder is supercalifrigistic good.

Another Fast and Fabulous

My card for today was made for the SUDSOL Challenge SDC132 and it was to make a Vintage Card.

I pretty much knew which embossing folder I would use and the ink color but which stamp set was going to be a problem.
As my design would be calling for something rectangular. Then I spotted Fast and Fabulous and you know what, it sure lives up to its name.

I first stamped the outline flowers in Early Expresso then used the 2 step part of the set to fill them in with Crumb Cake "fast and fabulous".

I made outside rectangle layer by using my using scallop border punch and the scalloped corner punch. I messed up a bit on the bottom but you really have to inspect it to see it.

I added a piece of DSP to Crumb Cake and then added a embossed piece of scrap Crumb Cake which I first ran through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trims die. Then I added the lace ribbon along with the Early Expresso 1/8" ribbon.

As you may have picked up on in my previous posts we have been having alot of cold and snowy weather in our area. Last Friday a friend of the family was driving in a snow storm and lost his life.

My card share today is a sympathy card I am sending to his family.

I used the florish from Elements of Style to make a border across my card front. I then added the 5/8 ribbon to the bottom of the Crumb Cake. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the 2 1/2 " circle punch and cut a black circle to layer the sentiment on. I stamped and cut out the butterfly and popped it on top of the sentiment.

This is how I finished the inside. One nice thing about the clear stamps is being able to put two stamps on one block. Thus only having to stamp once instead of twice.

Imagine The Possibilities

I am constantly searching for challenges to keep my stamping creativity going. I found one on Palpaperarts.com.

As I started to think about what I would do for this challenge, I got to thinking about all the stuff I had purchased from various sources and said to myself I really need to start using them. So I looked at the designers cards for the challenge and saw Mary Fish's card with the big flower. I remembered that I had purchased such a die, because I loved the newsprint paper print flower the packaging had on it. This was before Stampin Up came out with the Fun Flowers die in the new Mini it would work just as well. Then I remembered the bag of vintage type buttons I had bought because of something I saw somewhere, and the centre of these big flowers always seem to have something unique in them. Ok, I am off to a good start on this card I even had an unopened pack of DSP from Stampin Up with newsprint, imagine that wow, cool. Then I remembered the lace I had bought when my wonderful son took me to a LSS in his area in Alberta (had to do some altering on that but none the less it worked) ok, this is really coming together. Now for my sentiment. How fitting, IMAGINE the Possibilities. I feel like that hockey guy Crosby I think, when he talks about making a living out of doing what he loves for the Tim Hortins commercial.

Enough jabbering, I am sorry but I am really excited about how this turned out.

I can not believe it is snowing again. We/I have had enough already. I just get everything cleared up and it comes again.

I created my card today from the Stamping 411 sketch.

I added a background to my card with a retired background stamp stamped in Versa Mark. (Riot of Petals)

I took a look at the color coach and River Rock was a color that they had matched up with Rose Red and then I added the black for a sharp contrast. I tore away the stitched edge on the stamped image part and then matted it with a black piece.

eta: I just felt it need something more so I added the butterflies.

Stamping 411 SSC190 Challenge

I had the pleasure of having my grandson over today. He wanted to know what I use the sponges for. So I showed him and he made this lovely page, don't you think. I am kind prejudice because I just think he is so cute and cuddly, I just want to hug him all the time. So glad he lets me.

This is the sketch for the Stamping 411 challenge.

This is my take on the sketch. I used my Color Coach from Stampin up to choose the colors to go with the Rich Razzleberry. I would never have thought to pair Early Expresso with Rich Razzleberry but it looks fantastic to me.

The only Rich Razzleberry ribbon I had was the retired polka dot ribbon. I stamped the flower in Rich Razzleberry then stamped it slightly off in Sahara Sand to give it a shadow look. I use the little border stamp from Because I Care and added the smallest pearls inbetween the little flowers on the border.

Mojo Monday Week 178

I am a bit behind this week. My card today is made from the Mojo Monday Challenge for this week.

I used some left over DSP from my scrap box for the first layer. My circle layer is Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Whisper White. On the Whisper White circle I stamped the little branch with the acorn on it colored with Stampin Up Markers.

The rectangle Whisper White piece was stamped in Early Expresso and just left plain. I like the crisp look it had and remembered if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The sketch called for some ribbon but as this was looking more masculine I did not want my ribbon to be eye catching if you know what I mean. I then added 3 pearls to complete the sketch.

Here's hoping you had a great weekend. Myself I was pretty busy with two birthday parties on Saturday and a conference on Saturday morning as well. It was a long day but very enjoyable.

I was blog surfing again and came across a card made by Becca Feeken I loved the layout and a technique she used. I, of course, used my Stampin Up stamps and supplies to try to capture what she did.

I think I may have messed up on the stamped image dimensions but all in all not too bad.

The Medallion background stamp was used for the embossed layer. I used white embossing powder then sponged some Always Artichoke on it. It was difficult for me to get the image straight and also leave some space around the outside.

After I created the first card and this post I decided it needed a little something else. So I added the leaves from the Stampin Up Little Leaves Sizzlets. Now I think it looks complete.

I used the sentiment from Just Believe and Stampin Up Pearls and Ribbon.

My card for today was inspired by Sketch Challenge on Sudsol. You could use any combination of punches.

One of my favourite things to do when I am not working is to blog surf. I love to see what others do. On a blog that I visited awhile ago the gal had used a border punch on the sides of her card. This was not a Stampin Up blog but I love the challenge of being able to take our Stampin Up stamps and tools and create something from what I saw.

So that is what I did here, I used our scallop border punch on the sides, now I did trim the bottom off so that they ended up being exactly the same, as once it was folded the scallops did not exactly line up.

I used the Decorative Label punch for my image base in Whisper White. I stamped the flowers purposely off the edge of the punched out piece then I colored the flowers with Stampin Up markers added some Dazzling Diamonds to the centres and popped them up on top of the first stamped image. I layered this piece with two Decorative Label punches in Maria Mist and then layered that whole piece on a piece of Early Expresso.

For the piece going horizontally I cut a piece of DSP 1 3/4 by almost 4" and layered that on a piece of Early Expresso.

I wasn't sure how to finish the card off so I just experimented by stamping the flower with the ink having been stamped off and then adding the sentiment over top. I think it looks kinda cool, don't you?

What a Great Week

What a great week it was. Thank you to all who made it a great week. I got back to stamping and sharing what I love to do.

I am trying to find my style of card making. While many like what is called clean and simple, I like to add just a bit more if I can. One of the things I love about card making is how we can create our own backgrounds. I am also a quilter but since card making came into my world I have been very lax on my quilting. But I just love how I can make my own fabric I mean backgrounds LOL.

While this card would probably look ok without the embossed layer, and the paper piercing or the sponging on the sentiment all those elements to me make the card pop, just like the stitching would if it were a quilt.

A New Masculine Birthday Card

I am suffering from Internet Withdrawl, my internet has been not working properly for the last day or so. Sometimes I can get on sometimes it knocks me off right away. Called the phone company to come and check it out. Imagine that, .... no blog hopping, oh my what to do .... I know I will make a card. LOL

So that is what I did, I used Autumn Spendor to make this nice masculine card. I seem to be into masculine right now.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I am trying to use up all my retired stuff. The DSP on this card is from Autumn Meadows and I stamped it with the acorns from Autumn Spendor. The ribbon was a scrap I had and it is non Stampin Up.

I am still in the process of setting up my stamp room from our move. You really find out how much stuff you have when you have to move it. For anyone reading my blog in the area, I plan to have a craft sale of things I do not use, have extra, retired etc. type of garage sale before I leave the old house for good. In the process of putting some things away yesterday, I came across a card I had made and used at a technique class and share it with you today.

SUDSOL Challenge SDC129 Butterflies

Todays card is made using the SDC129 Butterflies Challenge.

I am determined to start using more of my Scrapbooking Paper or DSP as Stampin Up calls it because I have been hoarding it long enough and it has to be used up. So you will see alot of my new cards using DSP on it somewhere.

My colors for this card are not my usual colors. I colored the stamp with markers and the first color I used was Poppy Parade for the flowers, then Pear Pizazz for the leaves. The flowers got mixed up with the green a little which kind of gave them a purplely color. So when I was fingering through my DSP I found some Rich Razzleberry and I felt it looked ok with the flower color. The white background was embossed with the texture plate Pattern 2. All of this was place on a card base of Sahara Sand. Colors all went well together but probably not in the color coach LOL.

I used the Butterfly emboslit from Stampin Up for my butterflies and sponged them with Rich Razzleberry. I also applied some Smooch to the flowers for a little sparkle.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

We got a terrible snow storm here on Friday. It kinda messed me up because I kept thinking it was Saturday as alot of things were cancelled and everyone just stayed home safe.

I got the inspiration for my card today from the challenge at Stamping 411. I changed it up a bit.

This was a simple sketch to follow and you could you almost any image or even a large sentiment in the image area. I am enjoying doing their challenges each week.

I was happy to find another design challenge to help me get my creativity back. This challenge is from SUDSOL (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing On Line. It was a color challenge Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, and Rich Razzleberry) and these colors remind me of when I was a little girl(in more ways than one)of a hobby I had were you wound wool around this square frame and made doilies I think, I probably used the finish square for my dolls. LOL I always went for pink and a old olive type of green and usually some white, so these colors were very familiar to me with the exception of Rich Razzleberry.

I had ordered the stamp set Every Moment some time ago but I had not mounted or inked it up yet till today.

If you are wondering what is on the bull rushes, it is some kind of fluffy glitter I won at a crop. In working with this set I found the sentiment to be right up my alley as we have been talking alot about the heart in our bible studies and how we should see with our heart, not judge others hearts etc. Very fitting indeed. I was having a trying time getting my blog to work properly, but I think Heather must have fixed something as it seems to be ok loading now.

I thought things were going to amiss this morning as I have been wanting to get back to CURVES and each and every time something would either go wrong or cause me not to be able to go. This morning just as I was getting ready the snow plow came by and put a 2 foot high hard ridge across the driveway. There would be no way for me to climb it with the car or remove it as it was large pieces of frozen packed snow. My husband must have heard my grumbling and he went outside and caught the snow plow operator and got him to clear it so we could get out. Yea, I finally got to go to CURVES.

Another thing I wanted to keep up is my card making, so with keeping that in mind I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for this week for my card.
